To design their home in Laguna Beach, California, entrepreneurs Sarah and Thom McElroy enlisted Steven Ehrlich and Takashi Yanai of Ehrlich Architects. A minimalist walkway of marble slab steps leads to the entrance of the house, portions of which are clad in teak; the landscape was devised by Sarah McElroy in collaboration with Larry Steinle.

This Spanish Colonial–style home in Pebble Beach, California, received a sumptuous makeover from design firm JP Molyneux Studio. The courtyard, shown here, is outfitted with a Michael Taylor Designs table and McKinnon and Harris chairs; the hand-painted tilework around the arches is by Atelier Prométhée. Pernahkan kamu melihat perumahan elit dengan garasi pesawat di setiap rumahnya? Pasti bingungkan akan sebesar apa satu unit rumahnya. Tapi, pemandangan tersebut bisa kamu temukan di Florida, Amerika Serikat.

Bernama Spruce Creek Fly-In Community, perumahan yang terletak tidak jauh dari Pantai Daytona ini merupakan perumahan elit sekaligus terunik di dunia. Bagaimana tidak, setiap warganya memiliki garasi pesawat di rumahnya.

Dilansir berbagai sumber, kompleks perumahan yang dihuni lebih dari 5.000 penduduk ini memiliki total 1.300 unit rumah dengan 700 rumah memiliku garasi pesawat pribadi.
Kebanyakan rumah-rumah di sana memiliki garasi pesawat pribadi dengan landasan yang dinavigasikan GPS. Sehingga pemandangan pesawat terbang lepas landas menjadi hal yang biasa.

Namun, bukan pesawat terbang berukuran besar, pesawat di perumahan ini hanya pesawat-pesawat kecil sejenis m cessna. Alasan kenapa semua rumah di Spruce Creek memiliki garasi pesawat adalah karena warga Spruce Creek kebanyakan memang pilot profesional.

Tak hanya pilot, penghuni perumahan tersebut pun ada yang berprofesi lainnya, seperti dokter dan pengacara, tetapi mereka juga gemar dengan pesawat. Bagi mereka yang mencintai pesawat dan hidup di dunia penerbangan, Spruce Creek adalah surga.
Di Spruce Creek juga terdapat lapangan golf, beberapa klub terbang, hingga tempat penyewaan pesawat dan pelatihan penerbangan.

Spruce Creek bukan satu-satunya perumahan Taman Udara di Amerika. Konsep perumahan dengan landasan penerbangan pribadi seperti ini telah dikembangkan setelah Perang Dunia II.
Banyaknya perumahan seperti ini, karena Amerika memiliki banyak pilot dari 34 ribu orang pada tahun 1939 menjadi 400 ribu pada tahun 1946.
Akhirnya pemerintah pun membuka lahan pemukiman yang mengakomodasi kemampuan penerbangan mereka. Hingga kini ada sekitar 600 komunitas warga yang juga penerbang di AS.

Komunitas tersebut bisa ditemukan paling banyak di Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Texas, serta Washington. Spruce Creek merupakan perumahan elit penerbang terbesar.
